Wealth Through Bigness
I've recently picked up a book by T. Harv Eker titled, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. One of the principles of wealth that Eker lists is the following.
"The Law of Income: You will be paid in direct proportion to the value you deliver according to the marketplace."
What Eker says is that the more people you share something of value, the more you too gain as rewards. Eker's book is about how to become wealthy from an monetary sense.
However, the Gospel reading from a few days ago was Luke 13:18-21. There a two stories here. One analogy says we could be as small as the mustard seed but we can become very big and benefit many people. The other analogy is that of yeast that spreads around the dough and helps it rise.
Both parables are asking us to think big and not to forget those around us. If we are small minded, we will not impact other people sufficiently and neither will we be wealthy (either spiritually or financially). For example, if we are yeast that only spreads to small portion of the dough, then only that small section of the dough will rise. Similarly, if we are a small minded mustard seed, we shall become a small mustard tree that will benefit fewer people.
