The Top Five Easter Attractions In York

Easter is a time of bunnies, chocolate eggs and little yellow chicks in every toy shop. There’s a lot more to Easter than this of course, particularly if you visit somewhere like York.

York is situated to the north-east of Leeds and the north-west of Hull, and it has plenty to offer when it comes to a long weekend, but what can you look forward to around Easter time?

For starters you can join in the fun at Sutton Park on easter sunday when they hold a treasure hunt for the kids to enjoy. This is ideal for families and it makes a nice change from simply tucking into easter eggs at home.

The prices are reasonable as well and even the big kids can take part and have some fun! Sutton Park itself is a stately home just north of York city centre itself, and it is easy to reach and well worth the short journey.

Of course a key part of Easter is the many church services that take place up and down the country. If you are visiting York, what better place is there to go than the famous York Minster?

This gothic cathedral is one of the most stunning locations to enjoy an Easter service at. While it is not the original structure – this was made from wood so it didn’t last very long – it has been the site of a church since as far back as the year 627. Just imagine the history you can marvel at here as you enjoy an Easter Sunday service.

Make sure Fairfax House is on your itinerary over Easter as well. During 2010 there will be an exhibition of sweetmeats on at the house, including over the Easter period. It is a stunning Georgian building and one that is not to be missed.

The National Railway Museum is also good for all the family. Not only is it free to get in, you will also find an exhibition called Workshop of the World that is on before, during and after Easter, finishing at the end of May. The museum has also had Easter Egg hunts on in the past, so watch out for news on those during the early months of 2010.

What better way to enjoy an Easter trip to York than by taking a guided tour of the city? This will get you closer to all the other events taking place over the Easter weekend. Make sure you do it first so you can find out what else might be going on.

Hotels in York
are easy enough to book online, so you can find your ideal location in the city. All you have to do then is look forward to a feature packed Easter break.

What to Look For: Descriptions of Beautiful Holiday Cards

With so many cards to choose from it can be quite difficult to find the cards that are right for your recipients. Beautiful holiday cards do not have to be hard to locate, however; all that you need is to keep an eye open for the details Finding the perfect holiday card is not always easy. that set them apart from more common card designs. Here are some of the things that you should look for when trying to locate some of the beautiful cards that are available for the holiday season, making it much easier for you to find just the right card to meet your needs.

One of the things that you can look for when trying to find beautiful holiday cards is an image that really helps to capture the feel of the holiday season. Winter scenes greeting cards that show images of sleighs, snow-covered villages, and other scenes which help to put you in mind of winters long ago can really help to spread the cheer and nostalgia of the holidays. Images of popular Christmas gifts of old like snow sleds can also help to put the recipient in mind of the holidays that they enjoyed greatly as a child. You might even choose a card that simply features an elegantly-wrapped present, either sitting by itself in an unexpected place or piled in with other presents beneath a beautifully-decorated tree.

Another option for finding just the right holiday card can be to search for cards featuring beloved animals that have been associated with the winter months and the holiday season. This can have an obvious connection with the holidays, such as a stylistic reindeer image that will put people in mind of Christmas, or it can be a more general winter image such as cards featuring polar bears or penguins. Whether the images are photographs of the beautiful animals or renderings done with paints or pastels, the beauty of the image and the instant recognition that the animals will get in regards to the holiday season will be more than enough to help make sure that your cards are viewed as a thing of beauty.

With all of the holidays that occur in late autumn and throughout the winter, you might be looking for a beautiful card without a direct connection to Christmas or any specific holiday. While many animal cards do not specifically reference the holidays, that might not be what you’re looking for either; instead you might prefer cards which call to mind the joy of the season and wishes for peace among all. A number of holiday cards exist which do this very thing, ranging from simple calls for joy with decorative fonts to more elaborate cards calling for world peace and invoking the flags of different countries to show that the message is international. Even cards that give simple greetings with holiday-independent iconography in the background can present friends and loved ones with a beautiful card that offers a simple message of friendship and love for the holiday season.

It should be noted, of course, that many of the holidays that occur during the holiday season are religious in nature; because of this there are a number of beautiful religious cards that you can choose from. Many of these cards use images taken from or inspired by some of the greatest artists of all time, giving a classical flair to the images of angels and religious figures that adorn the cards. From angels playing music to images of Mary and the baby jesus, some of the most beautiful artwork that you’ll find on holiday cards can has a deeply religious theme. When looking at these cards, take the time to consider what colors you find most pleasing and look for artwork that incorporates those colors into the scenes which are instantly recognizable to believers around the world.

Whether you are looking for holiday cards that feature simple images like doves of peace or you want something more complex and that calls to mind scripture and verse, make sure that you choose cards that you enjoy. Look at the options that are available to you and pick holiday greeting cards which you find visually appealing and that offer the sort of greeting that you want to give, narrowing down your options until you find the cards that are right for each person that you have in mind. If you see a card that you think would be perfect for a special someone, send it to them with your heartfelt wishes for the holiday season so that they can enjoy it as well. Once you find the beautiful cards that you are looking for, make sure that you send them early enough that everyone will get their cards in advance of the holidays.

Why Chritmas Gives Us Joy

We have so many festivals. All of them are days of some kind of celebration. But for some reasons Christmas gives most of us more joy. Why is that so? What may be the possible reasons? Have you felt the difference in the air during Christmas time? Everything looks and feels so different, with most faces smiling. The days are not different but our feelings are surely different and festive. Let us find out why a festival that essentially celebrates birth of Christ brings so much joy.

Let us explore.

1. Christmas is celebrated all over the world. Most of the people around the world celebrate Christmas. That brings the world together. When you watch Christmas programs on TV, you can find out about how Christmas was celebrated around the world. That brings all of us together.

2. Christmas is identified with Santa. Santa is fun. That brings cheer to everyone on Christmas.

3. Tall Christmas trees that are decorated in so many ways and the lights and decorations all add to the festivity.

4. Jingles and carols that are sung aloud during Christmas bring fresh air in the season.

5. Christmas is a festival of giving. Therefore all of us expect gifts and that causes happiness and anticipation.

6. The markets, malls and all shops have festive look during Christmas. A walk during Christmas is very different than that on other days. The whole atmosphere is different because of celebration.

7. The long holidays from Christmas to New Year bring a relaxed feeling in all of us. We all therefore look forward to holidays.

8. Christmas time brings out the best in cooks. They cook mouth-watering recipes and that feels great.

9. Every church has the festive look and special sermons. Christmas displays around the churches look great and everybody visits the church on these days.

When are Gift Baskets Appropriate?

You might need to give a special gift to someone close to you, yet you are unsure what to give that shows that you care and truly met the recipient's desires and wishes. One easy answer for a great gift that is always appropriate is a gift basket. Gift baskets fill all sorts of gift-giving needs, whether the gift is to celebrate an event, the holidays, or a work relationship.

There are several events when a gift basket can provide an utterly suitable answer to a gift-giving dilemma. Perhaps someone has a new baby on the way or has recently given birth. You can have a baby gift basket made to order to include items the mother and child are sure to enjoy. Maybe your best friend is getting married. A wedding gift basket will delight both the bride and groom. If someone you know is celebrating a special anniversary, or is getting well from an illness, gift baskets make a great gift because each can be personalized to suit your friend or family members' specific tastes.

Holidays are a year-round gift-giving opportunity. Don't let this opportunity pass you by, because holiday gift baskets are enjoyed by young and old alike. Gift baskets can be arranged around a theme that the holiday provides. Winter holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa all provide the basis for a lovely gift basket themed to those particular holidays. Valentine's Day is a fantastic time to lavish your loved ones with a special chocolate-filled holiday basket that will certainly delight. Easter is a time when baskets are traditionally filled with the symbols of Easter--eggs, rabbits, and chicks, although today they take the form of chocolate, candy, or toys. Any of these items would be entirely appropriate for a lovely child's easter gift basket.

Giving gifts at work has become a new trend, especially in the real estate and mortgage brokerage markets. You want to keep your clients happy, so when a deal closes it can pay to give them gift baskets. The basket might be themed to housewarming items, as would be suitable for someone moving into a new home. The great aspect of giving baskets is that in this instance they can all hold the same gifts, so you save a bit of time yet still are able to give a beautiful gift to your clients. Giving a gift can also add a personal touch to what could be considered a dry financial deal. In this way you can make a lasting connection with your client to show them in yet one more way that you care about their needs. Ultimately, that is what gift giving is all about.

Palm Sunday in Kerala

Palm Sunday is celebrated every year throughout Kerala that falls in the month of April.

Palm Sunday is otherwise known as Osana Njayarazhcha or Kuruthola Perunnal in Malayalam. Palm Sunday is celebrated in preparation to the Holy Week. On this day, people go in procession around the church premises or through the streets holding tender palm leaves. The faithful practices this in remembrance of the day on which jesus christ’s victorious entry into the city of Jerusalem. ‘Hosanna to the son of David…” the multitude cried out before christ 20 centuries ago. In remembrance of this incident, hymns of hosanna will be sung throughout the procession.

The blessed palm leaves that are used by the faithful will be preserved at their homes until the Ash Wednesday celebration of coming year. All these palm leaves are burnt on that day and that ash is collected. A sign of cross will be marked on the forehead of each and every Christian member. That marks the beginning of fifty days Lenten fasting. This is practiced in Catholic Churches. In Jacobite churches, the palm leaves are burnt as a part of services during Christmas.

On Palm Sunday, special prayer ceremonies will be held. A remembrance of Christ’s passion is done every church. Salvation history reading will conducted in every church. Every Palm Sunday recalls the final days in Jesus’ life on earth. The Holy Week is the most important week in every Christian’s life. The Romans sentenced Christ to death on this week. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and Holy Saturday are the important days that accompany Palm Sunday.

St. Joseph Cathedral at Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram is one of the churches that celebrate Palm Sunday with great devotion and piety. A solemn procession will be held through out the main road that reflects depth of faith they have with Christ.
